9287President Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited the Olympic town under construction for the Asian and Para-Asian Youth Games, which will be held in Uzbekistan in 2025, as reported by the President's press service.
The head of state inspected several key facilities, including the Olympic stadium with 12,000 seats, a velodrome for 2,000 spectators, a water sports palace, as well as complexes for martial arts and team sports. Shavkat Mirziyoyev placed particular emphasis on convenience and security, stressing the importance of high-level digitalization and the extensive use of artificial intelligence tools.
The president also engaged in discussions with officials from the Chinese company "CAMC Engineering," which is responsible for the construction of the complex.
For reference, the 2025 competitions will feature 29 sports recognized by the International Olympic Committee, with more than 3,000 athletes from 45 countries expected to participate. After the Games, the facilities will house the Ministry of Sports, the Anti-Doping Agency, the State Sports Academy, the Research Institute of Physical Education, and the Sports Development Center. The infrastructure will also be utilized for training professional athletes and improving their skills, with regional sports organizations gaining access to the town's facilities.
It should be noted that on November 18, 2023, President Mirziyoyev reviewed the construction progress of the Olympic town. At that time, the foundation work for the main buildings had been completed, and the structures of five complexes were restored.
