On February 6, an extraordinary conference of the Uzbekistan Hand-to-Hand Combat Federation was held. During the event, Commander of the National Guard, Colonel General Bahodir Toshmatov, was elected chairman of the federation. This was reported by the National Guard’s press service.

According to the voting results, delegates unanimously elected Colonel General Bahodir Toshmatov as chairman of the Hand-to-Hand Combat Federation of Uzbekistan’s law enforcement agencies.

The conference also addressed issues related to improving the federation’s activities and further developing hand-to-hand combat as a sport.

In his speech, the newly elected chairman noted that in recent years, due to increased state attention to the sports sector, Uzbek athletes have been achieving high results in international competitions. He also emphasized the importance of the resolution adopted on June 20, 2022, titled “On Measures to Further Develop Hand-to-Hand Combat,” describing it as a key factor in advancing the sport.

During the conference, a number of practical tasks were outlined to further promote hand-to-hand combat. These included establishing at least two hand-to-hand combat sections in districts where such facilities are currently absent, increasing youth participation in sports, identifying promising athletes, and guiding them toward professional careers.

In addition, plans were announced to recruit talented hand-to-hand combat athletes into the Armed Forces and law enforcement agencies, to regularly organize competitions, and to provide appropriate incentives for winning athletes.

Earlier, Chairman of the State Security Service Bahodir Qurbонов was re-elected as president of the Uzbekistan Football Association.
