Cybercrime unit detains scammer in Khorezm region

A man in the Khorezm region who deceived more than a thousand people by promising to multiply their money has been arrested. This was reported on the "Hudud" informational program.

The Regional Cybersecurity Unit of the Ministry of Internal Affairs’ Rapid Investigation Department identified and detained an individual engaged in fraudulent trading activities.

One victim recounted, “A few days ago, I was added to a Telegram channel. It contained information about doubling money through trading. I transferred 20 million UZS to try and double it. About an hour later, they blocked me.”

During a search of the suspect's residence, authorities uncovered more than 10 tablets, 96 mobile phones, 1,171 bank cards, and 343 SIM cards from mobile operators. Investigations into the case are ongoing.

It is worth recalling that earlier, Uzbek artist Dilfuza Ismoilova reportedly fell victim to an $80,000 scam after trusting a woman she met at a social gathering.
