Chinese investor commits $250 million to Bobur City development

A Chinese investor has announced plans to invest $250 million in the construction of a modern complex in Bobur City, Andijan region. This was revealed during President Shavkat Mirziyoyev’s visit to the region on April 16, 2025, during a meeting with representatives of foreign companies planning investment projects in the area.

On April 15, large-scale development projects for Bobur City were announced, attracting interest from numerous investors. Among them, the Chinese investor intends to build a modern complex on a 55-hectare site, which will include a business center, a hotel, shopping malls, and residential housing for 3,000 families.

Additionally, plans are underway to launch 763 small and micro hydropower plants (GES) in Andijan this year, with a combined capacity of 24 megawatts, and another 20 megawatts next year. A Chinese company is set to establish production facilities for equipment required for these micro-hydro power plants. It was noted that the newly constructed plants will receive free maintenance services for one year.

During the meeting, detailed information about these and other projects was shared. The President instructed officials to increase investments, work closely with investors, and create favorable conditions for their activities.

With this, President Mirziyoyev concluded his visit to Andijan and returned to Tashkent.

President Mirziyoyev arrived in Andijan on April 15, 2025, to assess regional development and the lives of its residents. During a public gathering at the “New Uzbekistan” park in New Andijan City, he proposed renaming the city “Bobur City” in honor of Zahiriddin Muhammad Bobur. On April 16, during a meeting on priority tasks for comprehensive development, the President announced an additional allocation of 1 trillion UZS for the region.
