Five Uzbeks who were stranded in the Kazakh city of Aktobe have returned to their home country, Dunyo reported.

The humanitarian effort was carried out as part of the “Return to Homeland” campaign, which was held in Uzbekistan from July 30 to August 30.

Uzbekistan’s official representatives purchased air tickets for the citizens, who were escorted back to Uzbekistan on a flight along the Aktobe–Nukus route on August 29.

The campaign, launched on July 30—World Day against Trafficking in Persons—was organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Employment, the Migration Agency, the Family and Women’s Committee, and law enforcement agencies. Its aim is to return Uzbek citizens facing difficult circumstances abroad and support their reintegration into society.

Priority is given to women and children held in deportation centers in countries including Turkey, Russia, Kazakhstan, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, India, the United States, and South Korea.

Earlier, Uzbek citizens who had spent more than two months in deportation centers in Poland were also successfully returned to Uzbekistan.
