In the first quarter of 2026, employees of Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Internal Affairs committed 36 crimes. This was announced today, April 11, by Deputy Interior Minister and Head of the Investigation Department Ramazon Ashrapov at a press conference devoted to the analytical report on the activities of internal affairs bodies for the first quarter of the year.

It was noted that 25 percent of the employees who committed crimes were identified on the basis of complaints filed by victims. The remaining 75 percent were uncovered through internal inspections initiated by the ministry itself.

The ministry official added that all offending employees had been dismissed from their jobs, and the collected materials had been sent to the prosecutor’s office for review.

It should be recalled that earlier, two operatives of the Tashkent City Main Department of Internal Affairs were caught taking bribes, and criminal cases were opened against them.

In addition, an operative from the Criminal Investigation Department of the Bekobod District Department of Internal Affairs in Tashkent region, while intoxicated, struck a 43-year-old pedestrian with a white Nexia-3 and caused a traffic accident. The man died as a result of the crash.

The officer then allegedly tried to conceal the crime by calling his wife and instructing her to arrive at a designated place in a Matiz. He then transferred the body from his Nexia to the Matiz and disposed of it in the Do‘stlik canal, approximately 35 to 40 kilometers from the scene.
