Malibu hits 10-year-old girls in Fergana, leaving one dead

A 10-year-old girl died following a traffic accident caused by an underage driver of a Malibu-2 car in Kokand, Fergana region, the regional Department of Internal Affairs reported.

According to the report, at around 4:00 p.m. on May 20 this year, an underage driver, identified as Z.A., was driving a Malibu-2 along Amir Temur Street in Kokand when he hit three minor girls, born in 2016, who were crossing at a pedestrian crossing.

As a result of the accident, one of the minors, identified as M.K., died in hospital from her injuries.

A criminal case has been opened against Z.A. under Article 266, Part 2 of the Criminal Code, which covers violation of traffic safety or vehicle operation rules. He was detained under Article 221 of the Criminal Procedure Code.

A preliminary investigation is currently underway.

Earlier, it was reported that a motorcycle had hit a 15-year-old girl in Almalyk, Tashkent region, on May 14.
