Lieutenant Colonel Akmal Akhmedov, head of the Road Traffic Safety Department of the Fergana Regional Department of Internal Affairs, has been dismissed from his post. The news was confirmed by Zoyir Yuldashev, press secretary of the Road Traffic Safety Service.

According to the report, the dismissal was carried out by a corresponding order of the Minister of Internal Affairs. It was revealed that Akhmedov attempted to unlawfully conceal traffic violations committed by a Malibu-2 vehicle with license plate number 40 081 SBA, registered to one of his close relatives. The fines imposed on the vehicle have since been fully recovered in favor of the state.

Further investigative work is underway to provide a full legal assessment of the incident.

Earlier, reports had surfaced regarding increasing instances of lawlessness and corruption within the Road Traffic Safety Department of the Fergana region. In particular, it was alleged that the violations committed by the aforementioned Malibu-2 vehicle were unjustifiably canceled.

In response to the situation, and based on a complaint filed by a former citizen identified as O’.A., the Public Security Service of the Fergana Region conducted an internal inspection. As a result, disciplinary measures were taken against five employees of the service.
