Uzbekistan will introduce new measures in 2026 aimed at supporting electric vehicle owners and taxi drivers operating in the “green” transport sector. The initiatives are outlined in the 2026 state program approved by presidential decree.
Starting May 1, the tariff for electricity at charging stations will be set at 300 soums per kWh. If the current tariff exceeds this amount, the difference will be covered by the state budget, significantly reducing the cost of using electric transport.
From March 1, a number of benefits will be introduced for self-employed taxi drivers using electric vehicles. These include a social tax benefit of up to 10%. In addition, drivers will be allowed up to 30 minutes of free parking at parking facilities belonging to state organizations, as well as in airport and railway station areas. Drivers who travel one million kilometers without traffic violations or accidents will be awarded the “Nature Protector” badge.
To expand charging infrastructure, land plots allocated for charging stations will be offered at auctions with a starting price set at half the market value. This rule will also take effect on May 1, 2026.
In addition, plans include creating 14 botanical and dendrological gardens and 20 shaded walking streets across the regions. A scientifically based pilot project to introduce artificial rain technology will also be developed based on the experience of France, China, and Saudi Arabia.
These measures are aimed at ensuring environmental sustainability, reducing air pollution, and promoting a green economy.
Earlier, charging stations for electric vehicles in Uzbekistan were exempted from customs duties until January 1, 2028.
