Illegal land sales have been stopped in the Republic of Karakalpakstan and Surkhandarya region, according to the State Security Service (SSS).

In particular, in the Bandikhon district of Surkhandarya region, a man born in 1987 deceived a citizen who intended to start a livestock business. He promised to have 3.5 hectares of land from the district administration’s reserve officially registered in the citizen’s name through his alleged high-ranking connections in exchange for 1.5 billion soums. During an operation, he was caught red-handed while receiving part of the requested payment — 110,000 dollars and 100 million soums — along with material evidence.

In another case observed in the Republic of Karakalpakstan, an entrepreneur engaged in agriculture in the Kungrat district was approached by a man born in 1983 from the Amudarya district. The suspect falsely claimed ownership of a 169-hectare land plot that had actually been allocated to another citizen for developing rabbit farming in the Takhyatosh district. He offered to sell 50 hectares of the land for 1,000 dollars per hectare — a total of 50,000 dollars. The suspect was detained while receiving the money.

Criminal proceedings have been initiated against both individuals under Article 168, Part 4, Paragraph “a” (fraud) of the Criminal Code, and investigative measures are ongoing.

It is worth noting that earlier, fraudsters attempting to sell 50 sotok (0.5 hectares) of land in Tashkent for 4 million dollars were also detained.
