From father to son: Sangingov’s son appointed chairman of Uzbekhydroenergo

Islam Abduganiyevich Abdurakhmonov has been appointed chairman of the management board of Uzbekhydroenergo JSC, the company’s press service reported.
According to the statement, an extraordinary general meeting of shareholders of Uzbekhydroenergo JSC was held on January 8. During the meeting, shareholders decided to appoint Islam Abduganiyevich Abdurakhmonov as chairman of the management board and to conclude a three-year employment contract with him.
It is noteworthy that Islam Abdurakhmonov is the son of the company’s former head, Abdugani Abdurakhmonovich Sangingov. According to available information, Islam Abdurakhmonov is a major shareholder in one of the companies involved in the construction of the Sardoba reservoir, where a major disaster occurred in May 2020. Specifically, data from the Unified State Register of Enterprises and Organizations indicate that 61.7 percent of the shares of Topalang HPD Holding belong to Islam Abdurakhmonov.
It is worth noting that earlier Abdugani Abdurakhmonovich Sangingov was appointed chairman of the management board of Uzbekneftegaz JSC. He had previously served as chairman of Uzbekhydroenergo from May 2017 and was elected to the Senate of the Oliy Majlis from Surkhandarya Region in 2020.
