Mirziyoyev awards the Mufti

The Chairman of the Muslim Board of Uzbekistan, Mufti Nuriddin Kholiknazar Mirzahamdam oglu, has been awarded the Order of the Highest Imam Bukhari. The decree was signed on August 23 by the President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

The mufti was honored for his significant contribution to strengthening Uzbekistan’s independence, advancing ongoing reforms to build a New Uzbekistan, and his extensive scientific, creative, and practical work. He was also recognized for his role in enhancing the intellectual potential and spirituality of the population, his many years of service in developing science, education, healthcare, sports, literature, culture, the arts, and media, as well as his efforts in raising a well-rounded younger generation committed to patriotism and universal human values.

Kholiknazar Nuriddin Mirzahamdam oglu was born on June 25, 1968, in Asaka, Andijan region. He graduated from the Mir Arab Madrasah in Bukhara in 1992, the Imam Bukhari Islamic Institute in Tashkent in 1998, and Fergana State University in 2007. He began his career as an imam-khatib in mosques in Asaka, later serving in Tashkent. In August 2019, he was appointed Chief Imam-Khatib of Tashkent, and on October 19, 2021, he was elected Chairman of the Muslim Board of Uzbekistan – Mufti. On June 22, 2023, he became a member of the International Association of Muslim Scholars.

The following individuals were also awarded the Order of Imam Bukhari:

  •  Abdullayev Abdulkhay Boltaboyevich – Associate Professor of the Department of Arabic Language and Literature at Al-Azhar, International Academy of Islamic Studies of Uzbekistan;
  •  Abdullayev Khairulla Ibodullayevich – Chief Imam-Khatib of Khorezm region;
  •  Alimov Mirzamaksud Khatambekovich – Chief Imam-Khatib of Andijan region;
  •  Sayfudinov Rakhmatula Khabibulayevich – Imam-Khatib of the “Minor” mosque in Yunusabad district, Tashkent city;
  •  Yunusov Abdukaxhor Rikhsibayevich – Chief Imam-Khatib of Tashkent city, Imam-Khatib of the “Shaykh Zayniddin” mosque in Shaykhontohur district, Tashkent city.
