A security guard at Tashkent International Airport has been arrested for defrauding several citizens by promising them jobs at the airport. The incident was reported by the State Security Service.
According to the report, the guard, who worked for the Aviation Security Service of Islam Karimov Tashkent International Airport, demanded $500 from a resident of the capital. In return, he promised to help the individual secure a job as a security guard through his alleged connections with airport officials.
During a joint operation carried out by the State Security Service and the Department for Combating Economic Crimes under the Prosecutor General's Office, the suspect was caught red-handed while accepting the $500 bribe.
In the course of the initial investigation, the suspect admitted to receiving between $500 and $1,000 from approximately ten individuals in exchange for job offers at the airport.
A criminal case has been opened against him under Part 1 of Article 168 (Fraud) and Part 1 of Article 28,211 (Bribery) of the Criminal Code. Investigative actions are ongoing, and authorities are working to identify other potential victims of the scheme.
It is worth noting that earlier in the Namangan region, the chief specialist of the Construction and Housing and Communal Services Inspection was caught accepting a $10,000 bribe, and the head of an LLC was detained with a $4,400 bribe.
