Dr. Hans Kluge, the head of the World Health Organization (WHO) Regional Office for Europe, publicly thanked Uzbekistan for its humanitarian efforts in evacuating 100 Palestinians, including women and children, for medical treatment.

He shared his appreciation on the X social network, stating, “Thank you, Uzbekistan, for your compassionate efforts to save lives!”

Dr. Kluge noted that 12 WHO member countries in the European region have received patients from Gaza, with over 700 individuals evacuated so far. However, he emphasized that more than 12,000 patients still require urgent medical assistance outside the region.

On December 27, 2024, 100 wounded Palestinian women and children, along with their companions, were evacuated to Uzbekistan. Mansurbek Kilichev, the Uzbek Ambassador to Cairo, confirmed that the evacuees would be treated as guests in Uzbekistan until they can return to their homeland. During their stay, the evacuees will receive care at rehabilitation centers and hospitals, where they will undergo treatment and recovery. Uzbekistan has committed to providing all necessary support, including accommodation in hotels, housing, schools, and access to food, ensuring the well-being of the displaced individuals.
