Woman steals newborn baby from Jizzakh hospital

12276In a shocking incident, a newborn baby was kidnapped in the Zafarabad district of Jizzakh region. An unknown woman, aged 25-30, entered the room of a new mother at the Jizzakh branch of the Republican Specialized Scientific and Practical Center for Maternal and Child Health on January 31. Posing as a medical professional, she told the mother she would take the baby to the doctor and left with the child.
The woman, wearing a medical mask, never returned, prompting an immediate investigation by local law enforcement. Thanks to swift actions by the regional Internal Affairs Department, the baby was found that evening. The woman was detained, and a criminal case under Part 2 of Article 137 (kidnapping) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan was filed.
The authorities are continuing their preliminary investigation into the incident.
Earlier, a newborn baby was also discovered abandoned in a package on the streets of Tashkent, sparking further investigations into similar cases.
