In Uzbekistan, old-age pensions are now assigned proactively, without requiring citizens to submit an application. This change follows the adoption of Law No. ZUR-1066, which introduces amendments and additions to several legislative acts. The law was passed on May 19.

The amendments primarily concern the Law "On State Pension Provision of Citizens," allowing pensions to be granted automatically to individuals who have reached the qualifying age. Citizens also retain the right to decline pensions assigned in this manner.

Under the revised law, eligibility for an old-age pension is determined using data from existing government information systems.

If a citizen disagrees with the amount of the automatically assigned pension or wishes to continue working and defer retirement, they may refuse the pension.

In such cases, the individual must apply to the Pension Fund within 10 days of receiving the notification. This can be done by submitting an application in person or by completing a questionnaire via the public services center or through the government portal at my.gov.uz.

Applications and questionnaires related to pension assignment must be reviewed within 10 days.

The proactive pension assignment process is initiated on the day a citizen reaches the official retirement age.
