Metro driver who killed pregnant wife in Yangiyul and threw her into a canal sentenced to prison

A Tashkent metro driver who killed his pregnant wife in the Tashkent region and disposed of her body in a canal was sentenced to 18 years in prison. QALAMPIR.UZ has reviewed the court documents related to the case.

According to court materials, on December 10 of last year, the defendant, identified as D.N., drove his Nexia-3 to his late wife G.N.’s workplace. He forcibly took her from the office and placed her in the car. The man then drove to a bridge over the Salar Canal, located on Zhumabukha Street in Baytish, Yangiyul District, where traffic was sparse. After an argument fueled by jealousy, he stabbed G.N., who was confirmed to be pregnant, in the left chest with a kitchen knife he had prepared in advance, deliberately killing her.

After confirming that his wife was dead, D.N. removed her body from the car, threw it into the canal, and fled the scene.

Forensic examination determined that the woman was between 15 and 20 weeks pregnant. In court, the defendant partially admitted his guilt, explaining that he had fallen in love with G.N. and married her in 2021, and that they had a child together. According to D.N., in 2023, his wife had traveled to Turkey for business, after which her behavior reportedly changed, leading to frequent domestic disputes.

He also claimed that his wife had secretly borrowed money from multiple people without his knowledge, pawned gold items, and took out loans behind his back.

During the trial, the deceased’s mother stated that the defendant was responsible for the deaths of both her daughter and unborn grandchild, and demanded a life sentence for her son-in-law.

The court found D.N. guilty of intentional murder under Part 2, Subparagraph "b" of Article 97 of the Criminal Code and sentenced him to 18 years in prison, to be served in a general regime colony.

It should be noted that on May 1 of this year, in the Denov district of Surkhandarya region, a woman stabbed a 3-year-old girl she did not know to death for no apparent reason.
