Another renowned Russian athlete wants Uzbek citizenship

Danila Semerikov, a four-time bronze medalist at the World Figure Skating Championships, plans to compete internationally for Uzbekistan's national team, as reported by TASS.

According to the source, Semerikov aims to change his citizenship to represent Uzbekistan in tournaments. A formal request has been sent to the Uzbekistan Winter Sports Association.

Semerikov, aged 29, has earned three World Championship bronze medals in the team pursuit (2019, 2020, 2021) and placed third in the 10,000 meters at the 2019 World Championships. Additionally, he has two European Championship silver medals in team pursuit (2018, 2020) and a bronze medal in the mass start (2020).

It is worth noting that earlier reports indicated that other Russian figure skaters also intend to compete for Uzbekistan.
