Names of railway stations, stops, and junctions under “Uzbekistan Railways” will be brought into compliance with the rules and standards of the state language. This is stated in the government’s resolution of October 17 titled “On measures to bring the names of railway stations, stops, and junctions under ‘Uzbekistan Railways’ JSC into compliance with the rules and norms of the state language.”
According to the document, the Ministry of Transport and “Uzbekistan Railways” must, within three months, ensure that all signs and information boards installed at railway stations, stops, and junctions are written in the Uzbek language based on the Latin script, in accordance with state language rules and standards.
In connection with the standardization of names, relevant documents and databases will also be updated.
The resolution includes a list of stations, stops, and junctions whose names are to be aligned with the state language requirements. In total, 320 railway facilities across the Republic of Karakalpakstan, all regions, and the city of Tashkent are covered.
The implementation of this decision is assigned to Deputy Prime Minister Ochilboy Ramatov and Minister of Transport Ilhom Makhkamov.
Earlier, it was reported that traffic checkpoints at the entry and exit points of Tashkent city would be relocated in order to reduce congestion.
