The 12th meeting of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) Security Council Secretaries took place in Moscow on November 7. Viktor Mahmudov, Secretary of the Security Council under the President of Uzbekistan, attended the event, as reported on the organization’s website.

Under the chairmanship of Russian Security Council Secretary Sergey Shoigu, the meeting focused on countering the resurgence of Nazi ideology, information and cyber security, and the protection of national sovereignty.

In addition to Mahmudov, security council secretaries from Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan participated in the discussions.

Shoigu also read an address from Russian President Vladimir Putin, who emphasized the urgency of these issues.

He noted that addressing them effectively would support multilateral cooperation, strengthen collective security, promote economic growth, and advance integration within the CIS.

Further topics covered included threats to international security, cooperative measures for CIS information security, and collaboration on issues related to Afghanistan.

In April, Mahmudov represented Uzbekistan at the 12th International Meeting of High Representatives on Security Issues in St. Petersburg, where he highlighted the external pressures facing Central Asian countries.
