7082A Russian travel blogger shared a negative experience about traveling in a platskart carriage on a train in Uzbekistan, advising others to avoid it. She posted her impressions on her blog.
According to the blogger, she visited three cities in Uzbekistan—Tashkent, Bukhara, and Khiva—at the end of February. She traveled between cities by train, often finding a seat in the upper berth of the platskart carriage. However, she complained about the heating system, saying the carriages were excessively hot.
All the local women on the train were modestly dressed and kept their outer layers on despite the heat. Following their example, the blogger decided to endure the discomfort. However, she noticed that by morning, passengers began removing their extra clothing.
"My night on the Uzbek train was a real ordeal, but I was saved by the kind, positive, and very hospitable Uzbeks. I endured such a hot night just to be able to interact with them," she concluded.
It is worth noting that several Uzbek artists have previously complained about poor conditions on passenger trains, including non-functioning cooling systems and sand falling from the ceiling, which made it hard to breathe.
Last year, a Dutch travel blogger reportedly paid $15 to change seats on a train, which led to the dismissal of the train manager. In response to QALAMPIR.UZ, the blogger expressed regret over the employee’s dismissal and criticized JSC "Uzbekistan Railways." A Turkish tourist also mentioned paying a bribe of 100,000 soums to upgrade his seat to a more comfortable one.
