On June 10, a water leak was detected during engineering operations to open an additional tunnel on the left side of the “Hisorak” reservoir dam, managed by “Hisorak GES” UK in the Shahrisabz district of the Kashkadarya region. The mayor of Shahrisabz and the head of the Kashkadarya region's DES assured residents in a video message that there was no serious incident and urged them to remain in their homes.

In response to the incident, the chairman of the board of “Uzbekhydroenergo” JSC has formed an emergency team, including the regional governor and heads of the DES, DIA, and other official bodies. This team is overseeing the necessary engineering measures, utilizing specialized equipment to address the issue.

The Ministry of Emergency Situations has the situation under control. The reservoir has not been damaged, and there have been no injuries or fatalities reported.

Every year at the start of the summer, water is released to the “Chimqorgon” reservoir in Qamashi district to irrigate cotton and grain. This year's water release caused the water level to rise.

Officials reassured residents not to panic, emphasizing that the situation is under control and there is no serious danger. They urged residents to disregard false news, stay in their homes, and remain calm.
