Uzhydromet issues urgent warning

Due to expected precipitation and changes in air temperature from January 16 to 19, 2026, there is a risk of avalanches in mountainous areas across Uzbekistan, Uzhydromet has said in an urgent warning.

According to the agency, the avalanche risk has been announced in the following regions and districts:

• In Kashkadarya Region: Dehqonobod, Kitob, Qamashi, and Shahrisabz districts;
• In Surkhandarya Region: Boysun, Qumqo‘rg‘on, Sariosiyo, and Uzun districts;
• In Samarkand Region: Nurobod, Qo‘shrabot, Samarkand, and Urgut districts;
• In Jizzakh Region: Bakhmal and Zomin districts;
• In Tashkent Region: Bostanliq, Parkent, and Ohangaron districts, including the Chatkal mountain range;
• In Namangan Region: Pop district.

Uzhydromet urged residents of mountainous areas, tourists, and drivers traveling through mountainous regions to observe safety precautions and exercise increased caution.
