The efficacy required for the capital investment by local investors is high in Uzbekistan. However, foreign investors implement the investment projects for even fewer benefits. Bakhrombek Umarbekov, Deputy Director of the Energy Sector Reform Project of the Ministry of Energy, stated this on the TV program "Minbar".

“In Uzbekistan, the efficiency required for the capital of Uzbeks is high. If you go to the market and want to buy a car for ransom, you should pay an extra 30%.  The depositor also pays 15% to the bank.  Why am I bringing in investors from abroad with great effort? Because Arabs are willing to invest 6%.

Nobody in Uzbekistan, neither that outstanding Ortikhodjaev nor “Murad Buildings” (company), will invest 6%.  They invest for 15% and won’t use their money unless the capital returns by 15%.  The World Bank lends at 3%.  We don't need the money of Uzbeks.  Money is plentiful.  It is only necessary to create appropriate conditions for this.  The World Bank says that if the enterprises of the industry work without losses, it will support the regular flow of the money,” - Bakhrombek Umarbekov said.

It should be recalled that on 31 May of the current year, a draft government decision was announced to introduce a new procedure for payment for electricity and gas in Uzbekistan.  The project proposes to establish a social norm for gas and electricity, as well as the transition to differentiated tariffs.
