Uzbekistan's membership in the World Trade Organization is under consideration

A meeting of the Working Group on Uzbekistan's membership in the World Trade Organization (WTO) is being held in Geneva. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Investments.

It is noted that the delegation headed by the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan Jamshid Khojayev is on a business visit to Geneva, Switzerland. A meeting with representatives of several international organizations was held on the agenda of the visit. 

Yesterday, March 14, Jamshid Khojayev held talks with WTO Director-General Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala. At the meeting, issues of accelerating the process of Uzbekistan's WTO membership were discussed, including the possibility of holding the 6th meeting of the Working Group on March 14-15 of this year. 

The Director General of the WTO highly appreciated Uzbekistan's actions in the process of becoming a member of the organization and conducting bilateral negotiations with major member states. 

Currently, the 6th meeting of the Working Group on Uzbekistan's WTO membership is being held. During this 2-day meeting, more than 10 new documents related to all aspects of the trade regime of the republic will be considered.
