On April 7, statesman and public figure Vyacheslav Arkadevich Golishev died at the age of 75. President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev expressed condolences on his passing, the presidential press service reported.
Vyacheslav Golishev was born on May 4, 1951, in Omsk, Russian Federation. In 1972, he graduated from the Tashkent Institute of National Economy (now the Tashkent State University of Economics) with a degree in economics. In 1980, he completed postgraduate studies at Lomonosov Moscow State University and defended his candidate dissertation. He began his career as an economist in the printing industry and later worked in various positions at the Tashkent Institute of National Economy, the Research Institute of Economics and Standards under the State Planning Committee of Uzbekistan, as well as in republican party and state bodies.
From 1992 to 1995, he served as deputy director of the Institute of World Economy and International Relations under the President of Uzbekistan and as first deputy chairman of the State Committee for Forecasting and Statistics. In 2005–2006, Golishev worked as Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan, Minister of Economy, and head of the complex for economic and foreign economic relations, overseeing key areas of the country’s socio-economic development.
As an active and инициативный official in public administration, he worked for many years as a State Adviser to the President of Uzbekistan, demonstrating extensive experience, deep knowledge, dedication, and patriotism. He directly participated in the development of state programs and conceptual documents related to the country’s socio-economic policy.
He was elected several times as a deputy of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan and made a significant contribution to the development of parliamentarism and the legislative framework of reforms in the country. He was also actively involved in training a new generation of economists.
For his outstanding service to the country and its people, Vyacheslav Golishev was awarded the honorary title “Honored Economist of the Republic of Uzbekistan” and the “Dustlik” Order.
“The memory of Vyacheslav Arkadevich Golishev — a statesman and public figure, a prominent scholar and specialist in the field of economics, a kind mentor to the younger generation, and a sincere and modest person — will forever remain in our hearts,” the condolence message said.
Earlier, it was reported that prominent journalist, writer, translator, and former deputy Karim Bahriev had passed away at the age of 64.
