Shavkat Mirziyoyev sends condolences to Emir of Qatar

On June 22, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev sent condolences to Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani over the deaths and serious injuries caused by a powerful explosion and fire at a gas processing complex in the Ras Laffan Industrial City. The press secretary of the President of Uzbekistan reported this.

It was noted that the head of state expressed deep sympathy to the families and loved ones of the victims and wished the injured a speedy recovery.

For reference, the incident occurred yesterday evening, June 21, at a facility owned by QatarEnergy near Doha. According to official information, the explosion was caused by a technical malfunction. No leakage was recorded after the incident. Thirteen people died as a result of the explosion.

No Uzbek citizens were injured in the tragedy. Uzbekistan’s Embassy in Doha is in constant contact with Qatar’s Ministry of Interior and other competent authorities.
