Fans of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, which has been drawn in the same group as Uzbekistan, may be banned from entering the United States for the 2026 World Cup, CNN reported.

According to the report, the United States has introduced strengthened sanitary measures against the Ebola virus. The country may restrict entry for foreign nationals who have visited Uganda, the Democratic Republic of the Congo or South Sudan. Even if the ban is lifted before the 2026 World Cup, Congolese fans may still be unable to attend the matches, as they would have to comply with isolation and quarantine requirements for several weeks after arriving in the United States.

For reference, DR Congo will begin its World Cup campaign against Portugal on June 17 this year. The African side’s match against Uzbekistan will take place in the third round of the group stage. The match is scheduled for June 28.

Earlier, DR Congo announced its squad for the World Cup.
