Polish police have arrested a 35-year-old Ukrainian woman involved in human organ trafficking, according to the country's prosecutor's office.

The woman, who had been wanted by Interpol, was detained by Polish authorities. Between July 2017 and January 2019, she illegally purchased human kidneys in Kazakhstan, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Thailand, and Uzbekistan, selling them on the black market.

The Ukrainian woman was wanted by the Kazakh government for her involvement in human organ trafficking within the country. She was sentenced to 12 years in absentia for being a member of an international criminal organization.

An investigation by Polish border guards revealed that she was listed in international wanted databases, and the Kazakh judicial system referred the case to Interpol.

A court ruling regarding her extradition is currently pending.

It is worth noting that earlier, in Kyrgyzstan, members of a criminal group involved in the illegal sale of human organs abroad were arrested.
