Uzbekistan announces days off for Eid al-Adha celebration

Uzbeks will have public holidays on Friday, June 6, and Saturday, June 7, in connection with the celebration of Eid al-Adha. This is stated in the Presidential Decree “On the Celebration of the Blessed Eid al-Adha.”

According to the decree, the information provided by the Office of Muslims of Uzbekistan — confirming that the first day of Eid al-Adha in 2025 will fall on Friday, June 6 — has been officially acknowledged. Accordingly, June 6 will be widely celebrated as the Eid al-Adha holiday across the country.

To enable the population to celebrate the holiday properly, June 7, 2025 (Saturday) has been designated as an additional day off for employees who work on a six-day workweek.

The Council of Ministers of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, regional administrations, and the Tashkent city government, in coordination with the Committee on Religious Affairs, the Mahalla Association of Uzbekistan, the National Agency for Social Protection, and other relevant organizations, will take appropriate measures to ensure the celebration of Eid al-Adha is held in accordance with national traditions and customs.

The Tourism Committee, together with the Ministry of Transport, will facilitate favorable conditions for citizens to visit religious shrines and historical sites during Eid al-Adha.

The National Television and Radio Company of Uzbekistan, the National News Agency of Uzbekistan, and other media outlets are encouraged to provide broad coverage of events related to the celebration of Eid al-Adha.

Responsibility for overseeing the implementation of the decree is assigned to Prime Minister Abdulla Aripov and Presidential Advisor Ruslanbek Davletov.

It should be recalled that earlier reports indicated Eid al-Adha in Uzbekistan would be celebrated on June 6.
