On June 5, Uzbek pilgrims performing the Hajj, led by Mufti Nuriddin Kholiknazarov, offered prayers for the success of the national football team.
“This is not just a game; the honor of the homeland and the reputation of our country are at stake. Our team is counting on our prayers. May Allah Almighty support our footballers. May they carry the pride of our nation across the world. May Allah grant them strength and resilience, guide their every step, and help them introduce Uzbekistan to the global stage. May Allah protect them from harm, illness, and the evil eye. May He grant them victory through the blessings of these pilgrims,” the mufti said in his prayer.
The match between the United Arab Emirates and Uzbekistan is scheduled to start today, June 5, at 21:00 Tashkent time. A draw in this game will secure Uzbekistan’s qualification for the World Cup for the first time in history.
Earlier, the starting lineup for Uzbekistan’s national team against the UAE was officially announced.
