Uzbekistan and Germany approve partnership agreement on migration

Uzbekistan has introduced a new compensation scheme for labor migrants, covering costs related to work visas, language certificates, and travel expenses. This initiative is part of a government decree issued on April 22, aimed at improving the organized employment system for Uzbek citizens abroad.

Under the decree, Uzbekistan will establish a “Foreign Employment Training Center”, which will operate under a “One-Stop Shop” model, providing streamlined migration-related services.

Additionally, the government will increase the number of passenger buses, ensuring affordable and structured transport for citizens traveling abroad for temporary employment and returning home afterward.

The decree also approved the “Regulations on Providing Subsidies, Compensation, and Loans for Labor Migrants”, granting financial assistance for specific work-related expenses.

Eligible migrants who register on the "Foreign Employment" digital platform and participate in organized labor migration programs will receive financial support for:

• Language and/or professional qualification exams, reimbursed upon successful completion—up to 1,125,000 UZS (3 BCA).
• Work visa processing fees—up to 1,875,000 UZS (5 BCA).
• Travel ticket purchases—up to 750,000 UZS (2 BCA).
• Teachers whose students acquire B1 or equivalent international language certification (German, English, Japanese, or Korean) may receive up to 50 million UZS in support.

Additionally, Uzbek citizens traveling abroad for temporary work in developed countries under organized employment programs may receive microloans of up to 10 million UZS, issued by commercial banks with an interest rate 4% higher than the Central Bank’s base rate, with a two-year repayment term.

Previously, Olimjon Abdullaev, Uzbekistan’s Deputy Foreign Minister, met with South Korean Ambassador Won Do Yon to discuss simplifying visa procedures and expanding opportunities for seasonal migrant workers from Uzbekistan.
