Currently, Uzbek rescuers are continuing search and rescue operations in Hatay and Antakya regions of Turkey.  Thankfully, a week after the earthquake, another survivor was rescued from the rubble.

Employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Uzbekistan rescued 62-year-old Samet Genco and 60-year-old Seval Genco with the help of service dogs.

Extracting them from the rubble was carried out in cooperation with rescuers from Mexico and Turkey.

It should be recalled that on 6 February this year, two earthquakes with a magnitude of more than seven occurred in the southeast of Turkey (at 04:17 a.m. local time – 7.7 points and at 13:24p.m. – 7.6 points).  The devastating earthquake was also felt in neighboring countries, including Syria, Lebanon, the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, the Republic of Cyprus and Iraq.

Following the tragedy, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced seven days of mourning for the victims of the natural disaster in Turkey.  The Turkish state flags were lowered to half-mast across the country.

Also, Uzbekistan is actively participating in the clean-up efforts of the earthquake that occurred in Turkey.  At the request of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, a search and rescue team of 100 people was sent to Turkey on 9 February of this year.

In addition, on 6 February, Uzbekistan sent humanitarian aid to Turkey, which was devestated by a strong earthquake.
