Uzbek athlete sets new Asian record

An Uzbek athlete, Navroza Akhmatova, set a new Asian record and secured a place among the medalists at the World Para Athletics Championships taking place in New Delhi, India.

Competing in the women’s F41 category discus throw, a member of Uzbekistan’s national team achieved a result of 28.83 meters, breaking the Asian record. This performance earned Navroza the bronze medal of the championship.

Women’s discus throw (F41):

  • Gold medal: Raoua Tlili (Tunisia) – 33.81 meters;
  • Silver medal: Estefany Gisela Lopez (Ecuador) – 29.81 meters;
  • Bronze medal: Navruza Akhmatova (Uzbekistan) – 28.83 meters (Asian record).

The number of medals won by the Uzbekistan national team has now reached nine:

  • 3 gold;
  • 4 silver;
  • 2 bronze.

It is worth noting that earlier, a 20-year-old Karomat Omonova set a new Asian record with a throw of 13.07 meters, securing the world championship title in the women’s shot put event (F46 category). In addition, in the men’s shot put event (F32 category), Jasur Khojaev achieved a result of 9.96 meters in his attempts and claimed the gold medal.
