Is it true that sheep crossbred with pigs were brought to Uzbekistan?

Currently, a video is circulating on social networks showing how a pig and a sheep were crossed, and an animal that looks like both a pig and a sheep resulted from it.  The Fatwa Board of the Office of Muslims of Uzbekistan responded to the situation and stated that the statements made in the video are groundless and that it is the “Beltex” sheep breed shown in the video.

“Today there are more than 1000 breeds of sheep in the world.  The “Beltex” sheep breed is a common breed of sheep.  This sheep has nothing to do with the pig,” said the statement of the Fatwa panel on the Telegram channel.

It is noted that even if these sheep were crossed with other animals, the lambs born from them are considered halal meat.  This is what jurists said about it:

“The general rule with crossbred animals is that the breed of the mother is considered.  The jurists have openly stated this in many places” (“Raddul Mukhtar” book).

“Another rule is that if the animal’s father’s meat is haraam and its mother’s meat is halal, even if it looks like its father, it is not taken into account.  Perhaps he will be given his mother’s judgment.  It is said in the Durrul Mukhtar book:

“Similarity does not matter.”

In addition, when animals with haram and halal meat are crossed, if the mother is halal meat, it is permissible to sacrifice her.  It is said in the book “Raddul Mukhtar”:

“Hidaya and other books clearly state that it is permissible to sacrifice an animal born from cross-breeding (whose meat is halal from its mother).  It says: “The animal born of a domestic animal and a wild animal follows its mother in judgment.  Because (in animals) following the mother is the original rule.  Even if a wolf impregnates a sheep, it is permissible to sacrifice the lamb that was born.

Also, biologists say that crossing one species of animal with another does not result in a separate intermediate species.  It is also extremely difficult for science, and even if obtained, it does not produce offspring.  The fundamental laws of genetics do not allow this,” said the statement of the Fatwa panel.
