59 cars illegally transported from Uzbekistan to Tajikistan

Eight individuals have been detained for illegally transporting and selling 59 vehicles registered in Uzbekistan to Tajikistan. This was reported by the State Customs Committee.

The operation was conducted in cooperation with the Anti-Smuggling Departments of the Customs Administrations of Tashkent city, Tashkent region, and Namangan region. According to the report, the detained individuals were involved in the unauthorized export and sale of passenger vehicles registered in Uzbekistan to a neighboring country.

Among the vehicles transported were models of BYD, Volkswagen, Kaiyi X3, Honda, Geometry, FAW ID 4, and others. The suspects reportedly moved the cars to Tajikistan for fees ranging between $100 and $200 per vehicle. All 59 vehicles were found to have been illegally sold.

The Department of Inquiry and Administrative Practice of the Customs Committee has launched a criminal case under relevant articles of the Criminal Code of Uzbekistan and has transferred it to the appropriate investigative body for further action.

It should be recalled that earlier, several individuals across different regions of Uzbekistan were also detained for defrauding citizens by promising to provide vehicles at low interest rates.
