Today, from 25 July, some banks in Uzbekistan are experiencing a shortage of cash.  In particular, there is a restriction on cash withdrawals of more than 2,000 dollars at the head office of "Silk Road" bank.  Journalist and blogger Aziza Kurbanova announced this on her social network page.

"There is a dollar deficit in banks.  Even the head office of "Silk Road" bank, which everyone praises, has set a withdrawal limit of $2,000.  No one knows the basis and reason for this," says the journalist.

According to Aziza Kurbanova, individuals are allowed to withdraw up to $3,000 at the Mirabad branch of "The Silk Road" bank.

"Walking from branch to branch in a hurry is a problem.  In this heat, we meet people who cannot withdraw their money at the required amount at branches across the city.  Let's say that a person who needs $10,000 today has to go to at least 3-4 branches.  One guy needs to go to the USA - he needs 40 thousand dollars.  "I think outside of a miracle, this issue will last for another 3 days," added Aziza Kurbanova.

It should be noted that at the press conference held a few days ago with the participation of the chairman of the Central Bank, Mamarizo Nurmurodov, it was stated that there is no risk of a shortage of cash in banks, and sufficient cash reserves have been formed to provide them with cash.

"With the introduction of foreign exchange restrictions in some neighboring countries, we do not see a danger that the demand for currency in the border regions will increase.  There is no point in introducing restrictions for such cases," said the chairman of the Central Bank.

It should be recalled that in May and June there was a currency shortage in banks.  The Central Bank explained that this was because of the ban and restrictions on giving money transfers in dollars in neighboring countries.

"There are all opportunities and reserves to fully satisfy the population's demand for cash," said the Press Service of the Central Bank.
