Uzbekistan is set to introduce a new road sign, “Raised Pedestrian Crossing,” aimed at enhancing road safety. The decision was outlined in a resolution by the Cabinet of Ministers, titled "On Amendments and Addenda to the Traffic Rules to Ensure Pedestrian Safety," adopted on November 30.

The new sign will be installed on city streets and roads in settlements, particularly in illuminated areas of state and local roads with a speed limit of 30 km/h. It will also be placed at intersections with limited visibility and near areas marked with the “Children” sign. Complementary road lines will accompany the sign to ensure clarity for drivers.

The resolution tasks the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Ministry of Transport, and local government authorities with approving the list of installation sites for these signs by 2025-2026 within the next two months.

The resolution officially came into force on December 5.

For context, it was previously reported that penalties are being considered for violating traffic rules in lanes designated for public transport.
