A new and unique plant species is discovered in Uzbekistan

For the first time in 80 years, a new species belonging to the family Ranunkulus has been discovered in Uzbekistan. This unique species was discovered by scientists of the Institute of Botany under the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the Boysun Mountains of the Surkhandarya region and the species was named «Ranunkulus tojibayevii».

The last new species in the flora of Uzbekistan, belonging to the genus Ranunkulus, was found in 1941 and named «Ranunkulus vvedenskyi».
On 1 April, 2022, one of the most popular botanical journals PhytoKeys published an article about this new species of plant.
