Are more boys or girls born in Uzbekistan?

According to the Statistics Agency, nearly 52% of the babies born in Uzbekistan since the beginning of this year have been boys.

Between January and September 2024, Uzbekistan recorded a total of 693,900 births. Of these, 343,400 (49.5%) took place in cities, while 350,500 (50.5%) occurred in rural areas. Boys accounted for 51.9% of these births (360,000), while girls made up 48.1% (333,900).

Here is a monthly breakdown of births by gender:

- January: Boys - 51.9% (34,631), Girls - 48.1% (31,538)
- February: Boys - 51.9% (33,988), Girls - 48.1% (31,332)
- March: Boys - 51.8% (35,357), Girls - 48.2% (32,900)
- April: Boys - 51.8% (35,751), Girls - 48.2% (33,060)
- May: Boys - 52.2% (38,026), Girls - 47.8% (34,865)
- June: Boys - 52.0% (36,977), Girls - 48.0% (34,745)
- July: Boys - 51.7% (47,270), Girls - 48.3% (44,170)
- August: Boys - 51.9% (46,225), Girls - 48.1% (42,855)
- September: Boys - 51.8% (48,422), Girls - 48.2% (45,099)

Additionally, it was previously reported that births have decreased while deaths have increased in Uzbekistan over the last nine months. As of October 1, 2024, the country’s population stands at 37,355,400, with men making up 50.4% of the total and women 49.6%. During this period, there were 179,400 marriages and 34,000 divorces registered. Migration figures show that 193,500 people emigrated, while 186,600 immigrated.
