At present, Uzbekistan is actively working on establishing a ’’supercomputer cluster’’ to create the necessary computing capacity for the use of artificial intelligence. This was discussed today, October 6, during a presentation attended by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev on the development of artificial intelligence technologies in the country and their broad implementation in the economic and social sectors.
It is known that today, artificial intelligence technologies have become one of the key tools in various fields around the world, including the economy, education, healthcare, security, and other vital sectors. AI technologies help enhance efficiency in public administration, ensure the rational use of resources, and improve the quality of services provided to the population. In recent years, Uzbekistan has also carried out systematic reforms in this field, as a result of which the country has risen by 17 positions in the international ranking on AI implementation. Currently, Uzbekistan ranks 70th among 188 countries and holds the first position in Central Asia.
According to the President, these results are the outcome of the initial steps taken in this field, but much work still lies ahead. To this end, last year Uzbekistan adopted the Artificial Intelligence development strategy until 2030, and a special center was established under the Ministry of Digital Technologies.

During the presentation, the priority directions for the development of the field were reviewed. A total of $50 million has been allocated for the implementation of artificial intelligence projects in economic and social sectors. Eighty-six projects have been developed, covering healthcare, education, agriculture, energy, transport, ecology, and finance. Currently, the active work is underway to establish a ’’supercomputer cluster’’ aimed at creating the necessary computing capacity for the application of artificial intelligence.
’’The faster development of artificial intelligence requires continuous study of advanced and proven international and local practices. To achieve this, it is necessary to establish close cooperation with our compatriots actively working in this field, as well as with foreign experts and the private sector,’’ the Head of State said.
The presentation emphasized the need to develop modern computing capacities within the country in the field of artificial intelligence, build data centers, and create an attractive environment for entrepreneurs willing to invest in this area.
It was also noted that the most important factor in developing artificial intelligence is training qualified specialists. This process should begin at schools by retraining computer science teachers and creating a new generation of textbooks. Numerous programs are currently being implemented to accelerate the training of specialists in this field. Within the framework of the national program ’’One million artificial intelligence leaders,’’ the platforms aistudy.uz and omp.aistudy.uz have been launched for young people, offering five free online courses on AI. Under this program, by 2027, one million young people are expected to acquire knowledge and skills in the field of artificial intelligence.
To identify and support promising youth projects, Artificial Intelligence Hackathons will be launched across all regions. Recently, the ’’HealthTech AI Hackathon’’ competition in the field of healthcare was successfully held in Nukus. It was noted that this experience should be expanded to other areas, including education, the judicial system, water management, and entrepreneurship development.
The President endorsed the proposed measures and instructed to further accelerate the implementation of artificial intelligence, apply advanced practices in real-life activities, and enhance and expand initiatives aimed at improving human capacity in this field.
