3679In Uzbekistan, the law "On Renovation" may be adopted to replace old houses with modern multi-storey buildings. President Shavkat Mirziyoyev discussed this proposal today, November 18, at the first session of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis after the election.
The President emphasized that the law-making process should primarily focus on addressing current societal issues and alleviating the burdens of the people.
For example, Uzbekistan's population is growing by nearly 1 million people each year, necessitating the construction of new housing. However, concerns arise about where agricultural land will be found if more land is used for housing, thus raising questions about future crop cultivation and food security.
Mirziyoyev acknowledged the concerns of residents and the public, stressing that the "On Renovation" law should be adopted to allow for the construction of modern high-rise buildings in place of old houses.
"Recently, we have witnessed disputes between builders who promised housing and residents who trusted them with investments. To prevent such situations, we aim to ensure the protection of the funds of citizens involved in housing construction," said the President's press secretary, Sherzod Asadov.
It should be noted that earlier this year, in February, the mayor of Tashkent, Shavkat Umurzakov, announced that residential buildings covering an area of 500 hectares in the capital had been included in the renovation program.
