10991A uniform registration procedure is set to replace the separate registration systems currently in place for Tashkent city, Tashkent region, and other regions. This change is outlined in the draft law "On the Procedure for Registration of the Place of Residence and Notification of Residence for Citizens of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Foreign Citizens, and Stateless Persons," which was adopted in its first reading during a session of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis on August 20.
The draft law addresses the bureaucratic obstacles encountered in the permanent or temporary registration of citizens in Tashkent city and the Tashkent region, caused by the existing law "On the List of Categories of Citizens of the Republic of Uzbekistan Who Must Be Registered According to Their Place of Permanent Residence in Tashkent City and the Tashkent Region."
The new draft law proposes to repeal the aforementioned law and introduce a unified registration procedure for the entire republic. It also aims to establish a notification system for place of residence and improve the registration process for temporary stays.
"There will be no separate registration procedure for Tashkent city, Tashkent region, or other regions. The same procedure will apply throughout the republic," the report states.
Deputies noted that adopting this draft law will reform the registration process for citizens and visitors to Uzbekistan based on a unified approach. It will also enhance the protection of the rights of those in need of social support and optimize crime prevention measures.
