Mirziyoyev calls Aliyev for the second time in a month

2087President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev had a telephone conversation with President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev today, April 26. This was reported by the press service of the President.
During the conversation, the leaders discussed issues related to further strengthening the friendly, strategic partnership and allied relations between Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan. Particular attention was paid to the implementation of the agreements reached during the state visit of the President of Azerbaijan to Uzbekistan in August last year.
“It was noted with particular satisfaction that effective work is being carried out within the framework of the Year of Economic Cooperation. The volume of trade has increased by 20 percent since the beginning of the year. Projects in the automotive industry, textiles, electrical engineering, energy, agriculture, tourism and other sectors have entered an active phase. A rich cultural and humanitarian exchange program is being implemented together,” the report says.
The Presidents also noted the importance of thorough preparation for the high-level summits planned for this year, including the next meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission, forums of regions and rectors, and cultural events.
The leaders exchanged views on the regional agenda and discussed the plan of upcoming multilateral events, including those within the framework of the Organization of Turkic States.
It is worth recalling that Shavkat Mirziyoyev also had a telephone conversation with Ilham Aliyev on April 5. At that time, the heads of state discussed pressing issues on the bilateral and multilateral agenda. Particular attention was paid to accelerating the implementation of cooperation projects and programs in the trade, economic, investment, and humanitarian spheres.
