An audio message circulated on social networks by an unknown individual has warned people not to buy meat due to the alleged spread of an infectious disease among cattle. The Ministry of Agriculture has responded to these claims.

The Ministry stated that the situation has been thoroughly investigated in cooperation with the Veterinary and Animal Husbandry Development Committee and other relevant departments. According to their findings, no diseases have been detected in livestock over the past six months, and the cattle are being well-maintained.

The individual responsible for the false and baseless claims is F.T., a resident of the Buvayda district in the Fergana region. Authorities have informed her of the serious legal consequences of spreading false information and inciting panic.

According to the Veterinary and Animal Husbandry Development Committee, the number of cattle in Uzbekistan has increased to 14.5 million, an increase of 435,000 from 2023. Additionally, the population of sheep and goats has risen to 24.1 million, up by 500,000 compared to last year.

We remind you that the consumer price index was recently announced, showing an increase in the price of several products, including meat.
