How many people need jobs in Uzbekistan?

14228As of 1 January, the unemployment rate in Uzbekistan was 9.6 per cent. These figures decreased by 0.9% compared to the same period last year and increased by 0.2% compared to January-September 2021.
According to the press service under the Ministry of Employment and Labor Relations, as of 1 January, 2022, the economically inactive population of the country was 4,364,002 people, and this fact illustrates an increase of 0.5% or 19,8 thousand compared to the same period last year.
As of January 1, 2022, the number of employed in the formal sector amounted to 6,196,003 people, increasing in comparison with the same period of 2020 by 6.3% or 314.8 thousand people.
The number of people employed in the informal sector amounted to 5,885,005 people, decreasing by 1% or 58.4 thousand compared to October 1, 2021.
The total number of people in need of work in the country was reported to reach 1,441,008 people and the unemployment rate among the economically active population is 9.6%.
According to the report, 98.8 thousand unemployed people received unemployment benefit and pensions in the amount of 87.1 billion sums. In 2021, 37.3 thousand unemployed civilians and those included in the «Women’s Book» and the «Youth Book» will be allocated 83.1 billion som subsidies.
