For the first time in Uzbekistan’s history, the birth of a 130-year-old person has been officially established. The Ministry of Justice reported the news.

As part of the campaign “No person will be left without documents,” employees of the Justice Department in Buvayda district, Fergana region, discovered that the birth of Umarova (Tashmatova) Huvaydo, born in 1895, had never been registered in the local civil registry office.

Following a lawsuit filed by the district justice department, the Kokand Inter-District Court for Civil Affairs held a mobile court session at the “Qaraqum” municipal registry office. The court officially confirmed the fact of Umarova Huvaydo’s birth on January 1, 1895, in the Buvayda district.

“For your information, you may have heard about 130-year-old Huvaydo momo before, but there was no evidence to prove her age. Now, officially, Umarova Huvaydo momo is the oldest person in Uzbekistan. She may also be included in the Guinness Book of Records as the oldest person in the world. We will monitor the development of events,” the report said.

It is worth noting that the current Guinness World Record holder, Ethel Caterham of the United Kingdom, celebrated her 116th birthday on August 21, 2025. Caterham was born in Hampshire in 1909, the eldest of eight children. Her sister, Gladys Babilas, also lived a long life, passing away in 2002 at the age of 104.
