Mirziyoyev orders $10,000 in assistance for WWII veterans in Uzbekistan

A one-time financial assistance of $10,000 will be provided to each of the World War II veterans and disabled persons living in Uzbekistan, according to a decree signed by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

The decree establishes the following one-time cash awards:

  • $10,000 for each World War II veteran and disabled person;
  • 25,000,000 soums for individuals equated to WWII veterans;
  • 3,000,000 soums for participants of the labor front during the war of 1941-1945.

The expenses related to the implementation of this decree will be covered by the republican budget of Uzbekistan.

To ensure the proper and ceremonial distribution of the financial aid, the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, regional and Tashkent city governments, along with the Ministry of Defense, State Security Service, Ministry of Internal Affairs, National Guard, Ministry of Economy and Finance, Ministry of Culture, National Agency for Social Protection, Association of Mahallas of Uzbekistan, Republican Center for Spirituality and Enlightenment, and the Nuroniy Foundation for Support of Social Activities of Veterans of Uzbekistan, will oversee the process.

“The Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Abdulla Aripov, shall be responsible for monitoring the implementation of this decree,” the document states.

For reference, in 2023, each World War II veteran and disabled person in Uzbekistan received a one-time cash award of 20,000,000 soums as part of the government's ongoing efforts to support war veterans.
