Uzbekistan has set a new electricity consumption record, with summer usage surpassing winter figures for the first time. This was reported by the Ministry of Energy.
According to the National Dispatch Center, during the abnormally hot period from July 16 to July 21, 2025, new historical records were registered for daily electricity consumption and load in the country’s energy system. For the first time, summer consumption exceeded winter maximums.
On July 18, daily electricity consumption reached 272.6 million kWh, exceeding both the previous winter maximum of 271.8 million kWh and the previous summer record of 253.3 million kWh.
Yesterday, July 21, at 17:00, the maximum power load reached 13.3 GW, which is higher than the winter record of 12.5 GW and the July 2024 figure of 11.8 GW.
The largest increase was recorded in Tashkent. In particular:
- Daily consumption in the capital reached 32.4 million kWh, compared to the maximum of 30.5 million kWh observed in 2024—an increase of 33% compared to the same period last year.
- The peak load was recorded at 14:52, reaching 1,811 MW (compared to 1,680 MW in 2024).
- Overall consumption levels were 7.6% higher than in July 2024, with cumulative growth since the beginning of the month reaching 11%.
The Ministry reported that during periods of peak consumption, special emergency teams have been deployed in the branches of JSC “Territorial Electric Networks” to address outages and restore power as quickly as possible.
“We apologize to consumers for the power supply disruptions observed in some areas.
We urge everyone to use electricity as efficiently as possible. By turning off non-essential appliances, we can help reduce the system load and prevent further malfunctions and outages,” the ministry said in its statement.
