The body weight of civil servants in Uzbekistan will now be monitored, with data regularly recorded on a dedicated platform. This measure is outlined in the Presidential Decree “On Measures to Organize the State Civil Service Based on New Approaches and Form a Professional and Efficient Corps of Civil Servants”, signed on June 19.

According to the decree, beginning August 1 of this year, government agencies and organizations must organize physical education and fitness activities during designated times on each working day.

In cooperation with employee representative bodies, government institutions will:

  • Establish sports zones within their premises, where possible.
  •  Create the necessary conditions for employees to engage in physical activity.
  •  Assign sports promoters to measure employees' Body Mass Index (BMI) and regularly enter the data into the platform “hrm.argos.uz”/.
  • Promote a healthy lifestyle among civil servants through targeted initiatives.

It is also worth recalling that the same decree introduced key reforms, including the requirement for all newly admitted civil servants to sign a one-year probationary contract, which may later be extended indefinitely based on performance. In addition, leadership positions at the republican level will now be filled through the Unified Portal of Vacant Civil Service Positions.
